Trial begins for men accused of posing as DTE workers, murdering Hamtramck business owner

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – The trial has begun for the men charged with posing as DTE workers and murdering a Hamtramck business owner
Nearly a year after 72-year-old Hussaine Murray was murdered in his Rochester Hills home, the trial has begun for the men charged in connection with the crime.
Carlos Jose Hernandez, 37, and Joshua Zuazo, 39, were charged with felony murder and two counts of unlawful imprisonment. The two allegedly disguised themselves as DTE workers to gain entry to Murray’s home on Oct. 11, 2024.
Murray owned a jewelry store in Hamtramck. During the attack, his wife was present and tied up with duct tape while Murray was killed in the basement.
The prosecution described the defendants’ actions as carefully planned and deliberate.
“This was not random. This was not an accident. This was not coincidence that they showed up at his house. This was targeted and, to be honest, it was very well planned. You’ll hear through the witnesses that way before Oct. 10 Hernandez has been putting this in the works,” said the prosecutor.
With the jury now seated, the community watches closely as the trial moves forward, hoping justice will be served.
Trial is expected to begin 9 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1. You can watch it on Local 4+ and ClickOnDetroit.com
