Travis Kelce Finally Addresses Taylor Swift-Inspired Chiefs Fad

There’s no denying that Taylor Swift has made the Kansas City Chiefs‘ brand even bigger, and she’s attracted a whole new audience to the NFL. When Travis Kelce asked for Swift’s hand in marriage, he brought over a slew of Swift supporters who will now always root for the Chiefs. While it might be frustrating to some Chiefs loyalists to have a bunch of new peeps in Chiefs jerseys with the number “87,” it’s good for the sport to have new viewers. Now, Swift’s new album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” is out, and one of the songs is about Kelce, which is making her listeners even more excited. The song is called “Wood,” and in honor, Swifties have even been donning Swift-inspired Chiefs jerseys with Kelce’s number 87 on them, but with the name “Redwood” instead of “Travis Kelce.” So, what does the award-winning tight end think of this fad? He opened up about it on the Wednesday, October 22 episode of his podcast, “New Heights,” with his brother, Jason. Kansas City Chiefs Tight End Travis Kelce Talks Taylor Swift Fad During the podcast, Jason asked Travis what he thought about a custom Chiefs jersey that had his number “87” on it and the name “Redwood” on it. It’s been spotted on more than one occasion, and Jason just had to get the scoop on Travis’ thoughts. “How do we feel about this new trend?” Jason asked. “I mean, it works for the Chiefs,” he added, referring to the “red” in the title. “It does, baby,” Travis said, laughing and having some fun with the segment. “You know it, man. It works. I haven’t seen that nameplate before, but it’s pretty good.” Don’t be surprised to see this jersey show up when the Kansas City Chiefs host Monday Night Football on October 27 at Arrowhead Stadium against the Washington Commanders. The Chiefs are coming into the game with a 4-3 record, while the Commanders are 3-4. Chiefs vs. Commanders By the Numbers and Statistics So, will come out on top when the Chiefs take on the Commanders? The Chiefs are double-digit favorites, according to CBS Sports, partly thanks to Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels expected to be out. But, it’s not a given that they’ll win. Jon Hoefling of USA Today has the Washington Commanders taking it with a plus-10 prediction. “The Chiefs are on the rise. The Commanders are on the decline,” he says. “That makes this the perfect opportunity to take the massive underdog. Marcus Mariota didn’t exactly play poorly when he replaced Daniels earlier this year, and we should expect the Chiefs to regress a little bit after their enormous win over Las Vegas.” Jordan Mendoza, also of USA Today, has the Chiefs taking it. “It just keeps getting worse for Washington, and it gets no favors going against a hot Kansas City team,” he says. “Regardless if Jayden Daniels plays, it doesn’t look like it will be a fun night for the Commanders.” Richard Morin of the outlet adds, “With Jayden Daniels’ status uncertain, I like the Chiefs to cover at home. This game will also help comprise the 2025 Sports Equinox, with the NBA, NHL and MLB all also in action during Monday Night Football.”
