Bhubaneswar: Tragic again struck the family of deceased Bhubaneswar traffic constable Subhamitra Sahu’s family as one of her relatives died after being hit by train while returning after performing her last rites in Puri.

One Prafulla Patnaik, who is said to be a relative of the deceased woman traffic constable, had gone to Puri along with her wife Annapurna Patnaik and other relatives to perform Subhamitra’s last rites at the Puri Swarga Dwara.

While returning home after completing Subhamitra’s last rites, the Patnaik couple was hit by a train near Patia station in Bhubaneswar this evening. The speeding train hit them while they were crossing the railway track following which Annapurna died on the spot while Prafulla sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.

Meanwhile, police started an investigation into the matter and sent Annapurna’s body for postmortem.

The tragic death of Annapurna has further added sorrows and sadness to the misery of the bereaved family members of Subhamitra who are mourning her death.

It to be noted here that the Bhubaneswar traffic constable was murdered by her husband Deepak Rout on September 6 in Bhubaneswar and her body was buried in Ghatagaon, around 170 kms away from the State Capital City. The prime accused (Deepak Rout), who is also a police constable, has been arrested along with two of his associates Papu Bhuyan and Shambhu Mahanath.
