Tragedy as man dies after small plane 'crash landed' on runway

A man has tragically died after a small plane crash-landed on a runway in North Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon. The man, in his 70s, who is believed to be the sole occupant, was pronounced dead on the scene after emergency services were called to the scene in Sherburn in Elmet just before 1pm on Sunday, November 2. A statement from North Yorkshire Police said: “Just before 1pm today, we were called to reports of a light aircraft crash at Sherburn Aero Club. Join the Manchester Evening News WhatsApp group HERE “It was reported that a small plane had crash landed on the runway. North Yorkshire Police attended along with other emergency services. “Sadly, a man in his 70s from the Leeds area, who is believed to be the sole occupant, was pronounced dead."
