All right, Bonnie, that’s enough screen time. Pixar’s first teaser for Toy Story 5 on November 11 begins with the arrival of an ominous package. Our old friends Woody, Buzz, Slinky Dog, and Jessie cower in fear. “Hi, I’m Lilypad,” a tablet says. “Let’s play.” It’s a clear reference to the iPad and Kindle Fire obsession of the current era, dressed up as a LeapFrog LeapPad. The villainous screen is voiced by Greta Lee — going from playing an evil AI version of herself on The Morning Show to playing an evil iPad. “It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” the film’s co-directors, Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris, said in a statement. “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.” With Tom Hanks’s Woody among the cowering toys, there will be some questions about how he got there after the end of Toy Story 4, where he left the rest of his fellow toys behind to live in the woods as a “lost toy” with Bo Peep. Somehow, he’s back with the rest of his friends, including Tim Allen’s Buzz, Tony Hale’s Forky, and Joan Cusack’s Jessie. The team will also be joined by Smarty Pants, a talking training toilet voiced by Conan O’Brien. The prodigal cowboy returns to battle tech when Toy Story 5 debuts in theaters on July 19, 2026.
