From talking loudly on the balcony in the evening, to cutting queues at the port, there are plenty of things cruise passengers do that annoy their fellow travellers.

But one tourist has shared the one common noise that happens to bother them on cruises.

In a post on Reddit, the holidaymaker explained they recently completed a trip around the Greek islands and revealed how other passengers slamming doors irritates them the most.

The experienced cruiser, who has sailed ‘at least 20 or more times’ penned: ‘One thing that bothers me while cruising is the noise of cabin doors being slammed hard.’

Acknowledging the doors are often heavy so that they close properly, the passenger explained how they make sure to be careful.

‘Whenever I enter or exit the cabin I’m mindful of the noise that might disturb other passengers nearby,’ they said.

They use techniques like closing the doors quietly and ensuring they ‘catch the door’ before it slams.

Unfortunately, they have noticed some cruisers don’t return the favour and ‘are not too considerate’.

‘They are happy to let the door slam shut hard often very early in the morning and very late at night,’ they penned.

Door slamming can ‘vibrate through several cabins’, the holidaymaker claimed.

‘I go on vacation to relax and chill out, not to listen to people making unnecessary noise,’ they raged.

Many people agreed with the frequent cruiser that door slamming on board is ‘annoying’.

‘I think a lot of times people leave their balcony door open which causes the room doors to slam really hard,’ someone commented.

One person was even forced to change bedrooms because of the issue.

They explained: ‘This drove me nuts on my last cruise. I had it on both sides of our cabin every night at bedtime. We had to switch rooms.’

Another reasoned that perhaps the guilty passengers don’t realise they are doing it.

‘Whenever I enter or exit the cabin I’m mindful of the noise that might disturb other passengers nearby,’ they said

‘Same at almost any hotel really,’ they wrote. ‘The door slamming is awful! I don’t think people even realise it.’

‘Walk in and wait for the thing to slam shut behind them. They probably are slammers at home too.’

Someone else shared how they deal with noisy passengers on cruises.

They said: ‘When I get up to pee at night and have inconsiderate neighbours I will open my door, then slam it as hard as possible. Great fun.’
