Hyderabad woman accuses Chicago cop husband of abandoning her in India, fleeing with passport and jewellery A Hyderabad woman has accused her US-based husband of abandoning her in India, as he allegedly fled with her passport, green card, and other valuable items. Hana Ahmed Khan, a resident of Hyderabad, filed a complaint against her husband, Mohammed Zainuddin Khan, a Chicago Police officer. The two got married in June 2022. Last year in February, she moved to Chicago, when she said she also faced harassment from her husband, as he emotionally and physically abused her. The case explained Earlier this year, in February, Zainuddin allegedly brought her to Hyderabad on the pretext of performing Umrah. After they checked into a Somajiguda hotel, he reportedly left for the US, abandoning her. She alleged that her husband also took her passport, green card, jewellery, and other valuables while she was visiting her parents. Hana has been unable to get in touch with her husband for six months now. She also approached the US Embassy in Delhi and the US Consulate in Hyderabad, but said that she got no assistance. “I am in a state of distress and humiliation, left stranded in India without legal documents or the means to return to the US. I tried my level best to approach the USA Consulate in Hyderabad, but was denied entry and my effort through email also failed,” she said in the complaint. He pleaded with Jaishankar to assist the woman in securing her visa to return to the US to pursue legal action against her husband. “One Hana Ahmed Khan, a Hyderabadi girl, was married to Mohammed Zainuddin Khan (US citizen) working with the Chicago Police during June 2022, Later, during Feb 2024 she visited the USA and started living with her husband in Chicago. She was being subjected to emotional abuse, physical harassment and mental torture,” he wrote. “Her husband, in a planned way, brought her back to Hyderabad on 7th Feb 2025 and checked in Park Hotel, Somajiguda. While she went to meet her parents, her husband, with all her belongings like passport, green card, jewellery etc, vacated the hotel and went back to the USA,” he alleged in his post on X.
