Toronto Star’s Leafs Headline Faceoff 2025 Contest Rules OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Agreement: These rules govern the Toronto Star’s Leafs Headline Faceoff Contest (the “Contest”). No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest rules and the decisions of the Sponsor, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all entrants. 2. Sponsor: The Contest is sponsored by Toronto Star Newspapers Limited and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Partnership (the “Sponsors”). Toronto Star Newspapers Limited is the prize provider (the “Prize Provider”). 3. Eligibility: The Contest is open to legal residents of the province of Ontario who are eighteen (18) years of age or older and are living within one hundred and twenty (120) kilometres of the City of Toronto as of the start of the Contest Period (each an “Entrant”). Employees and the immediate family members (including those with whom they are domiciled) of the Sponsors, and of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Partnership, the Toronto Maple Leafs, NHL Enterprises LP, the National Hockey League and its member teams, and each of their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, governors, agents, their advertising and promotional agencies (together with Contest Sponsors/Prize Provider, the “Released Parties”) are not eligible to enter the Contest. Determinations of Contest eligibility shall be made in the sole discretion of the Contest Sponsors and shall be final and binding. 4. Contest: The Contest Period begins at 12:00 p.m. ET on October 8, 2025 and ends at 10:00 a.m. ET on March 26, 2026 (the ”Contest Period”). To enter the Contest, you must download the Toronto Maple Leafs app at NHL.com’s mobile app page to your mobile device, play the Headline Faceoff game and then click the “ENTER CONTEST” button after completing the game, read and accept these Contest Rules, and follow the instructions to complete and submit the entry form with all required information (a valid email address will be required). Access the Contest website at https://www.thestar.com/contests/leafs-headline-handles-contest/article_9bdca03f-8d54-440b-b992-2f6cd94aebca.html Each entrant may use only one (1) email address to enter the Contest. There is a limit of one (1) entry per person per week. 5. Winner Selection: The potential winners will be chosen by random draw from all eligible entries received, which will take place at the Sponsor’s office at 8 Spadina Avenue, Toronto, Ontario Canada. The draw dates for each monthly prize will take place as follows: Each draw date will take place at 11:00 a.m. ET on the date specified above and will be drawn from all eligible entries received up to 10:00 a.m. ET on that same date (including all non-winning entries from each previous draw). The potential winners will be contacted by telephone or email by a representative of the Sponsors and must reply within 48 hours to maintain eligibility. If any of the potential winners cannot be contacted within this time period or fails to respond to any attempted contact or incorrectly answers the skill-testing question, such potential winner will be disqualified, his/her entry will be declared null and void and the Sponsors reserves the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to select at random another eligible entry, in which event these provisions shall apply to such other eligible entry. In order to be eligible to win, each potential winner must correctly answer a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question, without assistance or mechanical or electronic aid. 6. Prizing: There are six (6) prizes available to be won, consisting of: October prize: one (1) $100 Real Sports Apparel gift card. Approximate retail value (the “ARV”): $100.00 CAD. November prize: one (1) $200 Real Sports Apparel gift card. ARV is $200.00 CAD. December prize: one (1) official Toronto Maple Leafs jersey (player name on jersey to be selected at the discretion of the Contest Sponsors). ARV: $300.00 CAD. January prize: one (1) official Toronto Maple Leafs jersey (player name on jersey to be selected at the discretion of the Contest Sponsor) and a Maple Leafs toque and scarf. ARV: $400.00 CAD. February prize: one (1) pair of tickets (exact seat location shall be determined at the discretion of the Sponsor) to see the Maple Leafs vs. Carolina Hurricanes on March 20, 2026 at Scotiabank Arena. ARV: $800.00 CAD. March Leafs Ultimate Fan Grand Prize consisting of: one (1) pair of tickets (exact seat location TBD) to see the Maple Leafs vs. Washington Capitals on April 8, 2026 at Scotiabank Arena, two (2) official Leafs jerseys and $400 in Real Sports gift cards. ARV is: $1,800.00 CAD. Winners are responsible for transportation to and from the event and all other expenses not listed. Gratuities, food, beverages, all other transportation, entertainment, merchandise, souvenirs, and all personal expenses of any kind are not included and are the sole responsibility of the winner. The prize cannot be transferred or substituted, and the event will not be rescheduled if a winner cannot attend. The winner and his/her guest acknowledge and accept all risk of damages, injury or other loss incidental to any game for which tickets are issued, whether occurring before, during or after the game, and hereby voluntarily agree to assume the same. Participation in the prize is subject to compliance with all applicable laws, by-laws, regulations and any applicable facility or carrier rules; failure to comply may result in non-admission or expulsion from further participation in the prize. Unauthorized use, reproduction or resale of tickets is prohibited. Safeguard your tickets. Tickets will not be replaced or replenished if lost, stolen, used incorrectly or without authorization. The Sponsors and the Prize Supplier reserve the right to limit, revoke or refuse the use of a tickets at any time at its sole discretion. Tickets may not be exchanged for cash. Neither the Sponsors nor Prize Supplier assumes any responsibility for the event’s cancellation, delay, suspension or rescheduling. Other restrictions may apply – see tickets for details. There is no refund or credit for unused or unclaimed portions of the prize. The prize is non-refundable, non-transferable, not for sale and has no cash surrender or redemption value. Sponsors and the Prize Provider reserve the right in their sole discretion to substitute another prize of equal or greater value for any component of the prize, without liability. 7. Prize Claim: The prize will be coordinated and sent to the winners by the Prize Provider. Sponsors shall not be responsible or liable for unclaimed, lost, damaged, or stolen prizes or for postal or courier delays, strikes or errors. The Sponsors may email, mail or courier the prize. Tickets are mobile only and will be transferred to the winner via Ticketmaster. Winner must have or register for a Ticketmaster account in order to claim the prize. If the potential winner is unable or unwilling to accept or otherwise redeem any prize on the terms it is awarded, the prize shall be forfeited, and no cash or substitutes will be provided in whole or in part. 8. Release: Prior to receiving the prize, the winner may be required to show valid photo ID and must sign a declaration of eligibility and release form releasing the Released Parties and each of their related parties from any and all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the prize, confirming compliance with the Contest rules and consenting to the use of their name, image, likeness, video, comments, and photographs, in any and all forms of media, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Released Parties and/or each of their respective advertising and promotional agencies. The signed form must be received by Sponsor within one (1) business day of notification or the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate entrant. 9. Indemnity: By participating in this Contest, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties and each of their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates and/or related companies and licensees and each of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, representatives, advertising, media buyers and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, suits, actions, causes of action, costs, expenses, liabilities or losses of any kind (including but not limited to lawyers’ fees) arising out of or relating to your participation in the Contest; your receipt or use of any prize; or your violation of any term of these Contest rules or your violation of any third party right, including without limitation any copyright, property, or privacy right. 10. Privacy: The Sponsors use your personal information to administer this Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting the winner, and may transfer your personal information to third party service providers (including but not limited to the Prize Provider) in order to perform services such as prize fulfillment and delivery. The Contest is run in compliance with the Sponsors’ privacy policy, which may be found in full at http://notices.torstar.com/privacy-policy/index.html and https://www.mlse.com/legal/privacy-policy. 11. Banning: The Sponsors may, in their sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom it believes to be abusing the rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more times than permitted. 12. Other: Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received. This Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein and is void where prohibited by law. The Sponsors reserve the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest rules at any time without notice. All prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable and are not convertible to cash. The Sponsors or Prize Provider reserve the right to substitute any prize or portion of a prize with a prize of equal or greater value. All prizes are awarded as-is and no warranties or guarantees are implied or expressed. Neither the Sponsors nor Prize Provider is liable for any lost, late, misdirected or stolen entries or inability to process entries, or any errors, damage, injury or negligence that may arise in connection with this Contest, including technical issues or failures on any website or software, viruses, website disruptions, malfunctions or website down-time, human error, personal injury or property damage incurred by any Contest entrant. Sponsors are not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest. Use of any automated system including robotic or form filling software to enter or participate in this Contest is prohibited and will result in disqualification of all entries by anyone using such assistance. If a dispute arises regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address provided at time of entry. The authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
