Top School Boards Meet in Hyderabad From October 29

Hyderabad: India’s leading school education boards will gather in Hyderabad from October 29 to 31 for the 54th Annual Conference of the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) to deliberate on assessment reforms, digital learning, and skill-based education under the theme “Future of School Education in India – Challenges and Opportunities.”The national conference, hosted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) at its Centre of Excellence, will see participation from over 70 boards, including Cambridge, the International Baccalaureate and delegates from Bhutan and Nepal.Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma will inaugurate the event, while Dr. Sanjay Kumar, secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, will deliver the valedictory address on October 31.Dr G. Immanuel, president of COBSE and chairman of CISCE, said the conference underscores collaboration among school boards. “When school boards work together, they create shared momentum for reform that defines the nation’s learning future. The ideas emerging from Hyderabad will help shape educational quality and equity,” he said.Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, chief executive and secretary of CISCE, said the platform strengthens cooperation among boards by facilitating the exchange of best practices and a unified roadmap for future-ready education.At a press conference in Somajiguda on Monday, Dr Godwin Daniel, deputy secretary of the CISCE regional office, Hyderabad, said the aim was to create space for shared learning. “The idea is to bring all school boards on one platform to exchange ideas and strengthen one another through collaboration,” he said.Across three days, sessions will feature CBSE director Dr Biswajit Saha on skill education, PARAKH CEO Dr Indrani Bhaduri on board equivalence and new initiatives, and CISCE’s Dr Joseph Emmanuel and Dr Bhawna Taragi on transforming educational quality systems. Experts from Cambridge, the International Baccalaureate and Dayalbagh Educational Institute will share models of innovation and quality enhancement.The final day will focus on the National Credit Framework and its impact on school boards, followed by closing remarks from Dr Immanuel. The conference will conclude with recommendations for aligning school education with the National Education Policy 2020.
