Syracuse, N.Y. —The top-ranked running back in the Class of 2027 has scheduled a visit to Syracuse football. Kemon Spell, a five-star prospect from McKeesport (Pa), will be in Syracuse on Oct. 31 when the Orange host Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels at the JMA Dome. Spell (five-foot-nine, 205 pounds) recently de-committed from Penn State following the firing of James Franklin. He was committed to the Nittany Lions for over a year prior to Franklin’s firing. “I want to be in a winning program, to be honest,” Spell told Blue and Gold’s Kyle Kelly. “They can’t win big games and that’s something I want to do…if you can’t do that at Penn State, then Coach Franklin got fired and that just put me over the top.” Another high-profile Penn State de-commit recently visited Syracuse as wide receiver Khalil Taylor was in town for SU’s loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday. Spell is ranked as the top running back, No. 1 overall prospect in Pennsylvania and No. 7 prospect nationally in the Class of 2027. Spell told Kelly that after Syracuse he is scheduled to visit Ohio State on Nov. 1, Georgia on Nov. 15 and Michigan on Nov. 29. Spell visited Notre Dame this past weekend. On3’s Steve Wiltfong has projected that Spell will commit to the Irish. 247 sports currently ranks Syracuse’s 2027 recruiting class third in the country with six players committed.
