Karur stampede | T.N. government to frame rules and guidelines for public events: CM Stalin

Days after a stampede at actor-politician Vijay’s rally in Karur, which claimed 41 lives, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Battle for Asia Cup trophy continues even after final match

Devajit Saikia, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, has condemned the act of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi taking the Asia Cup trophy along with him from the dais after India declined to accept it from him. Mr. Saikia also confirmed that the BCCI will take up the issue in the next International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Board meeting in November. India captain Suryakumar Yadav said it’s the winning team that is remembered, not the trophy as he reacted to his side not being presented the Asia Cup after it refused to accept the top prize from Asian Cricket Council chief and Pakistan’s interior minister Mohsin Naqvi.

X to appeal Karnataka High Court judgement upholding Sahyog portal

X, formerly Twitter, said that it would appeal the Karnataka High Court’s decision that rejected its challenge to the Union government’s Sahyog portal. The Sahyog portal was set up last year to allow State police and other authorised government agencies to send takedown notices to social media platforms, a move that X has argued is a broad and illegal censorship regime that would leave it with criminal liability if it did not comply. The company said it was “deeply concerned” by the judgement handed down by the single bench of judge M. Nagaprasanna, and that it would appeal. X did not indicate whether this appeal would be directed to a larger bench at the Karnataka High Court, or to the Supreme Court — a spokesperson for the platform did not respond to a query by The Hindu.

Asia Cup 2025 final: Don’t want to be harsh but Suryakumar disrespected cricket, says Salman Agha

Salman Ali Agha feels that Indian team’s ‘No Handshake’ policy while playing against Pakistan in the Asia Cup was “disrespectful” to the game and not the best example of sportsmanship for the young fans who look up to cricketers as role models. “What India have done this tournament is very disappointing. They are not disrespecting us by not shaking hands, they are disrespecting cricket. Good teams don’t do what they did,” the Pakistan skipper said at the post-match press conference. “We went to pose with the trophy (photo shoot) on our own because we wanted to fulfil our obligations. We stood there and took our medals. I don’t want to use harsh words but they’ve been very disrespectful,” he added.
