Premium Spotify users who are top fans of Sheeran on the music streaming platform have been invited to ‘Billions Club Live’ in Dublin. When a song racks up a billion streams on Spotify, the artist joins the Billions Club. To celebrate this feat, Spotify sometimes hosts a special concert for top listeners of the artist. When The Weeknd scored his 25th entry to the Billions Club last year, Spotify hosted a special concert in California with over 2,000 of his top fans. Meanwhile, Ed Sheeran has 14 songs in the Billions Club and to celebrate, some of his loyal Spotify fans have been invited to a special gig in Dublin, with the location to be revealed two hours before. In an email sent to fans around two weeks ago, Spotify promised that the “intimate one-night-only event will bring Ed’s biggest songs to life – just for his biggest fans”. It’s not the first time Sheeran has surprised his Irish fans. Advertisement In August, he made a surprise appearance at an Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford town at the well-known Sky & The Ground pub. Massive crowds gathered on the streets of the south-east town today, hoping to catch a glimpse of the English singer, who frequently cites his Irish roots. And not wanting to leave anyone out, Sheeran made his way outside to perform an acoustic set for fans who could not make their way into the pub. Fair play…not wanting those outside The Sky & The Ground in #Wexford to feel cheated, Ed Sheeran went outside and did an acoustic/unplugged tune for the crowd gathered there. That’s a big one for the Fleadh anyways…and it’s only Tuesday! 😅 pic.twitter.com/6y3o8cEMm1— Pádraig Byrne (@byrne_padraig) August 5, 2025 Meanwhile, Sheeran recently said that he identifies culturally as Irish – despite being born and raised in England. The singer, who was brought up in Suffolk, has a large Irish family and said he would spend his holidays in the country as a child. “I class my culture as Irish. I think that’s what I grew up with,” Sheeran said on The Louis Theroux Podcast in June. “We’d spend all of our holidays in Ireland. My first musical experiences were in Ireland, I grew up with trad music in the house. So I identify culturally as Irish, but I was obviously born and raised in Britain. He added that his Irish family culture is “something that I’m really proud of and grew up with”. For fans who missed out tonight, Sheeran’s next Irish show is 9 December at the 3Arena.
