Sons Of Anarchy
If you can’t wait to watch Charlie Hunnam take on the role of Ed Gein in Netflix’s Monster season 3 this week, then make sure to check him out in his career-best role in Sons of Anarchy.
Sons of Anarchy follows Hunnam’s Jackson “Jax” Teller, who struggles with the realities of being a father and being a part of an outlaw motorcycle club in California. The series was created by Kurt Sutter, who’s also known for The Shield and the SOA spinoff series, Mayans M.C.
Sons of Anarchy was nominated for 5 Emmys and is ranked #218 in IMDb’s Top 250 TV Shows of all time. It also earned a Rotten Tomatoes score of 87% for all seven of its seasons, which totals to 92 episodes.
CBR gave the series 9/10 stars in their retro review, noting, “Whether or not you like how you feel at the end of an episode, a season or even the entirety of SoA, you unequivocally will feel. And the show’s seemingly effortless ability to make viewers feel is precisely why it’s consistently worth revisiting.”
Gilmore Girls
The perfect Fall sitcom show ever made may just be Gilmore Girls. It embodies the unofficial subgenre of “cozy” television. Originally airing on the discontinued TV network WB, the series ran from 2000 to 2007, producing seven seasons and 153 episodes.
Gilmore Girls features the classic mother-daughter pair of Lauren Graham and Alexis Biedel, while also featuring early appearances by Melissa McCarthy, Jared Padalecki, Sean Gunn, and Scott Patterson. The series was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino, known for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Roseanne.
The first season of Gilmore Girls earned a 90% Rotten Tomatoes score. Entertainment Weekly called the series “Such a nice surprise: A sharply written show about a mother-daughter relationship filled with vibrant emotions instead of cheap sarcasm.” If you’re looking for the TV equivalent of a warm autumnal soup, Gilmore Girls is about as good as it gets.
English Teacher
After its three-episode premiere last week, English Teacher season 2 is now fully available to stream on FX and Hulu. The series has a near-perfect 99% Rotten Tomatoes score, including a perfect 100% rating for its newly released second season.
Set in Austin, Texas, English Teacher is perfect for fans of other classroom comedy series like A.P. Bio and Abbott Elementary. That said, its humor is more on the level of another celebrated FX comedy, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, in that it is unafraid to push the boundaries for the sake of hilarity.
Collider gave English Teacher season 2 an 8/10-star rating. “English Teacher’s humor remains unrelenting and not afraid of taking jabs at the most pressing issues facing education so far — and, in the end, even the adults watching might learn a thing or two from Evan.”
Reservation Dogs
If you enjoyed the first few episodes of The Lowdown starring Ethan Hawke, then you must check out the celebrated yet underrated series Reservation Dogs. Both series were created by Sterlin Harjo. Reservation Dogs was also co-created by Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows).
Reservation Dogs is a comedy series that follows four Indigenous teens growing up in eastern Oklahoma, which is where The Lowdown takes place. The series was nominated for 5 Emmys during its three-season run, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Lead Actor for D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai.
Reservation Dogs earned a near-perfect 99% Rotten Tomatoes score for the entire series. Collider called it “a true gift of television,” while The Hollywood Reporter called it “one of TV’s finest series.” It’s one of the best series to watch on Hulu, period, and the perfect companion series to The Lowdown while waiting for new episodes each week.
Chad Powers
The first two episodes of Glen Powell’s new sports comedy series Chad Powers premiere this week on September 30, 2025. The 6-part series will release weekly installments until the season 1 finale drops on October 28th.
Powell stars as a disgraced college football star who gives himself a second shot on the gridiron by disguising himself as a walk-on quarterback named Chad Powers. The series also stars Steve Zahn as Chad’s college football coach, Jake Hudson.
