AIIMS Delhi secured the top spot in the NIRF 2025 rankings in the best medical colleges category. Apart from MBBS, the institute offers several BSc courses such as nursing, Optometry, Dental Hygiene, among others. AIIMS Delhi also offers several postgraduate courses such as MSc, MD, MS, MDS as well PhD and fellowships. Its approximate annual tuition fees is Rs 6,075.
Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Chandigarh has retained the second position in NIRF 2025. It offers a wide of UG and PG courses including MD/MS (specialties), DM/MCh (super-specialties), and various certificate and diploma programs in numerous medical and paramedical fields, such as Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Physiotherapy. Since it is a government-funded institution, fee is nominal.
Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, retained the third spot. The institute offers various courses including MBBS, nursing, diploma courses, and several postgraduate courses in medical, nursing, and Allied Health Sciences (AHS) specialties. The approximate fees for first year is Rs 41,895.
Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Puducherry retained the fifth spot. First-year fees is around ₹14,920.
Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) Lucknow is expected to retain its sixth position.
Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU (IMS-BHU) Varanasi was at the seventh spot in the NIRF rankings last year.
The National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bengaluru, Karnataka, takes up the fourth position. Fees can range anywhere between ₹25,000-₹53,000/year based on the programme.(Image: NIMHANS)
