Tom Brady claims dog Junie is clone of previous family pet

Tom Brady claims he was able to clone his late dog, Lua. The former New England Patriots quarterback and current FOX broadcaster revealed Tuesday in a statement with Colossal Biosciences — a company he is an investor in — that he was able to collect blood from Lua before she died in 2023. Shortly after Lua died, Brady got Junie — a dog that looks strikingly similar to Lua. “A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed," Brady said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. Colossal — known for its de-extinction efforts — gave Brady and his family “a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog.” Brady adopted Lua with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen before the couple divorced in 2022. Bündchen announced the dog’s death in 2023. In the statement, Brady said he is “excited how Colossal and Viagen’s tech together can help both families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species.”
