Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady said his dog is a clone of his deceased dog. The seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and current Fox Sports broadcaster said his dog Junie is a clone of his late dog Lua, according to People. With the help of the biotech company, Colossal Biosciences, which Brady is apparently an investor in, blood samples of Lua were taken before she died in 2023 to create Junie. The company also recently acquired another biotech company, Viagen Pets and Equine, known for cloning celebrity dogs. “I love my animals. They mean the world to me and my family,” Brady said, per People. “A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed.” The mission behind Colossal is to de-extinct animals no longer roaming the earth, the company’s website explains: “To see the Woolly Mammoth thunder upon tundra once again. To advance the economies of biology and healing through genetics. To make humanity more human. And to reawaken the lost wilds of Earth. So we, and our planet, can breathe easier.” Brady added that cloning Lua “gave my family a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog,” emphasizing that “Colossal and Viagen’s tech together can help both families losing their beloved pets while helping to save endangered species.”
