Toby Carvery superfan even turns her desserts into roast dinners - by recreating them as cupcakes

A Toby Carvery superfan is able to eat her favourite roasts, gammon and Yorkshire puddings as dessert – as she recreates them as cupcakes. Chloe Wallington admits she loves the iconic British chain so much she eats there once or twice every week and much prefers it to cooking roasts at home. However, when the self-taught baker began baking as a side-hobby in 2021 after having twins, she soon found herself learning how to create savoury food favourites in fondant. Her ultra-realistic Toby Carvery creations include slices of gammon, two Yorkshire puddings, five roast potatoes, carrots and peas, all smothered in gravy – all in icing. Following encouragement from friends and family, the mum-of-four set up her own business, Chloe’s Cakes, in 2022. Now the 25-year-old receives lots of wacky requests for miniature food in the form of cupcakes and creates iconic dishes such as Domino’s pepperoni pizza and a McDonald’s chicken nuggets box. Other recognisable dishes include Dairylea Lunchables and a full English breakfast all out of fondant. The mum’s latest bizarre order was for a Toby Carvery-obsessed customer’s 70th birthday, recreating the iconic roast dinner as a miniature meal in icing. The Toby Carvery cupcakes, which cost £45 for a box of four, were shared on TikTok where the video racked up more than 500,000 views. Chloe said she loves making bespoke cupcakes that incorporate customers’ favourite things. Chloe, who lives in Basildon, Essex, said: “That’s the whole point of the bespoke cupcakes – you give someone something they can eat, which has all their favourite things on top. They’re very popular. I love making them. I love Toby Carvery. I go literally once or twice a week. I’d rather get a Toby’s than cook it.” All of the toppings are made with fondant icing, so despite how realistic some of them are, they are all sweet treats and not savoury – and even the packaging such as McNugget boxes are edible. Chloe said: “I started getting requests for miniature food on cupcakes. I started practising and practising, got better and now they’re my most popular cakes. All the toppings and gravy on the Toby Carvery ones are fondant icing. It does take about an hour and a half per cupcake. It was a lot of trial and error. They’re all completely edible.”
