Quashing rumours on the alleged demolition of Hathiramji Mutt, Tirupati District Collector S. Venkateswar announced that the mutt will be rebuilt in the same style as the previous building. He also assured that people from Banjara community will be given first priority and the necessary facilities will be provided to them at the reconstructed premises. He, along with MLA Arani Srinivasulu, and District In-charge Joint Collector N. Maurya, conducted a review meeting with Hathiramji Mutt Committee members in the video conference hall at the Collectorate, on Saturday. During the meeting, he urged the members not to believe the misconceptions being spread that the entire mutt will be demolished. The Collector said, “As per the instructions of the district level committee, we have appointed an expert committee and taken their suggestions. IIT-Tirupati Director Prasanna Kumar and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada, Director R.N.S. Murthy have examined the building and said that everything can be reconstructed.” “The experts said that the building was previously built using Madras terrace roofing technology, and it can now be reconstructed in the same way. Only lime mortar, wood, and bricks are used in this, and there is no cement or concrete in it. According to the current technology, it is called Rain-forest Cement Concrete,” he informed.
