A countdown timer has to be installed at the automatic traffic signal near Sanjeevi Nagar on Tiruchi- Chennai bypass road as it is a major junction with thousands of vehicles passing through it. Timers would help the motorists to slow down and stop the vehicles in time. Saravanan Natesan Puthanampatti Pedestrian crossings Pedestrians at Palpannai face serious inconvenience and risk every day while crossing the busy junction. Passengers boarding or alighting from buses struggle to cross amid fast-moving vehicles as there are no pedestrian crossings and proper bus bays around the junction. The situation is especially unsafe for schoolchildren, office-goers, and senior citizens. Authorities are requested to provide well-marked pedestrian crossings on all sides, install pedestrian signals, and create bus bays to ensure public safety and smoother traffic movement at this important point. Kanimozhi S. Bala Managing Yatri Nivas The report on poor maintenance of the Yatri Nivas in Srirangam does not come as a surprise. The HR&CE Department, which manages Yatri Nivas in Srirangam, cannot be expected to have relevant domain expertise to manage the facility. All attempts made to run the premises so far through a few government agencies have miserably failed. Alternate business models such as public-private partnership, which has been successfully employed in toll plazas, should be seriously considered for running the Yatri Nivas. I urge the government to shed all inhibitions and embrace new models lest the facility built at a cost of ₹50 core becomes a white elephant. S. The house in which he was born should be converted into a monument to commemorate the forthcoming centenary of his getting the Nobel prize. R. Shankaran Kumaran Nagar One-day tours The Tourism Department can organise one-day tours to historical and other places of interest in Tiruchi. The tours can be operated on specific days such as Saturdays so that school students can be taken on the tour. V. Karunakaran Shanmuganagar West Extension Repair overbridge road The middle of the road surface on the overbridge in Srirangam is in bad shape and poses a risk to road users. Two-wheeler riders suffer a lot. I request the authorities to take steps to repair the road. S. Sivakumar The SIR 2025 is going on a war footing way in Tamil Nadu. These forms require previous SIR data, registered during 2002 for rural areas and 2005 for urban areas. The voters have to fill these data in the current forms correctly. But many voters are not aware of this. The District Collector should randomly scrutinise the filled up forms received so far and ensure that the voters have filled up the applications with required data pertaining to the previous SIR. H. Ghouse Baig Storage facilities inadequate Farmers are disturbed over the shortage of paddy storage facilities in the delta districts. The authorities should take immediate action to ensure the availability of sufficient godowns for the upcoming samba season, which is expected to commence in January 2026. The need for proper storage infrastructure is urgent, as it will not only facilitate smooth procurement but also prevent any damage to the harvested crop due to lack of storage space.
