The Tiruchi Railway Division achieved a milestone by surpassing eight million tonnes of freight loading between April 1 and October 25 this financial year. The division earned ₹486.57 crore during this period as compared to ₹428.65 crore earned during the corresponding period of last year thereby registering a 13.5% increase in earnings. The division loaded 6.02 million tonnes of coal recording a 4% increase over the target for this financial year. Foodgrains loading was to the tune of 1.17 million tonnes registering an impressive 30% increase over the target and a 61% increase as compared to the corresponding period last year. The division loaded three lakh tonnes of cement and 1.8 lakh tonnes of other goods contributing significantly to the milestone achieved, a press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division said.
