Inter-school competitions A team from Santhanam Vidhyalaya Senior Secondary School was awarded the Overall Winner Shield for its outstanding performance, at the IGnite Inter-School Competitions – 2025, in a prize-giving ceremony organised by Shrimati Indira Gandhi College recently. The team from Cauvery Matriculation Higher Secondary School won the runner-up prize. In his address, motivational speaker R. Madhu, underscored the values of hard work, dedication, and honesty, urging students to broaden their horizons and think beyond limitations. The competitions saw the participation of over 600 students from 17 schools in activities spanning fine arts, literature, and sports. Data analytics seminar Four technical sessions on topics including Image Analytics using Deep Learning Models, Power BI, Text Analytics, and Neo4j Graph Data Science, were conducted at a national seminar on tools and techniques in data analysis organised by the School of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications, Bharathidasan University (BDU) in association with the Bharathidasan University Entrepreneurship and Career Hub (BECH - RUSA 2.0) recently. Speakers included G. Devasana, head, Department of Computer Science, IIIT-Tiruchi, Lijimol George, senior data scientist, Tata Consultancy Services, Chennai and M. Brindha, associate professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi. In his address, Gopinath Ganapathy, director, BDU University Informatics Centre, discussed the rapid accumulation of vast amounts of data in recent years and warned that this could potentially lead to a “Cyber Quake” if not managed properly. E. George Dharma Prakash Raj, professor and head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, highlighted concerns about data misuse. Foundation Day Retired Major General N.R.K. Babu emphasised the importance of perseverance and encouraged students to pursue higher studies, prioritise mental health, and cherish college life and family bonds in his address as part of the 41st Foundation Day celebrations at Cauvery College for Women recently. On behalf of NA. Subbu Reddiar 100 Educational Trust, cash awards were presented to the three toppers from the Arts and Science streams of Cauvery College, as well as the two toppers both from the Cauvery Schools who had excelled in their higher secondary examinations. Career preparation conclave An initiative to prepare students for the professional world, titled ‘HR Conclave - Career Readiness Program 2030’ hosted by M.I.E.T Engineering College looked at the skills required to excel in the future recently. In his keynote address, Rev. Dr. Jegath Gasper Raj, founder, The RISE Global, encouraged students to strive to be the best. A panel discussion moderated by Shaj, head, Human Resources, Gislen Software, saw experts from various fields explore themes related to career readiness, including communication skills, resume writing, and adaptiveness to the workplace environment.
