From Adesuwa Tsan, Abuja President Bola Tinubu has charged the Nigerian Armed Forces to remain steadfast in protecting the nation’s economy and values from the disruptive forces of insurgency and terrorism. The president gave the charge on Saturday during the combined passing-out parade of cadets of the 72 Regular Course (Army, Navy, and Air Force), the Short Service Course, and the Branch Commission Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna. Represented by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, at the event, Tinubu warned that insurgents were determined to undermine Nigeria’s development and must be decisively confronted. “I will seize this opportunity to draw your attention to the ills of insurgency and other security challenges to our nation. You must remember that the goal of the insurgents and terrorists is to counteract our developmental reforms by creating counter-states,” Tinubu said. “Yours is to safeguard the economic and core values of the nation to prevent the collapse of the economy and revitalise the Armed Forces, despite the enemies’ indiscriminate violence and baseless propaganda to orchestrate their threats against the state. “You must never at any time lose sight of the vision of the founding fathers of our dear nation, irrespective of the multiple complex security challenges facing our nation today,” he added. The president commended the NDA for adopting technological approaches in training and research to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in both present and future operations. He praised the institution’s recent overhaul of its curricula and methodologies in line with modern security realities. Congratulating the cadets, Tinubu said there was no better time to prove their valour and uphold the virtues upon which the academy was established in defence of Nigeria. A total of 472 cadets were commissioned into the Armed Forces: 218 into the Army, 135 into the Navy, and 119 into the Air Force, in addition to Short Service Cadets. Six cadets received awards for outstanding performance in academics, military training, and extracurricular activities. **SEO Elements** **SEO Title** Tinubu charges military to crush insurgency **Suggested URL** /tinubu-charges-military-crush-insurgency **Keyword** CRUSH INSURGENCY **Meta Description** President Tinubu urges Armed Forces at NDA parade to defend economy, counter terrorism; 472 cadets commissioned, 6 awarded for excellence. **Suggested Titles and URLs** 1.
