Tiger Woods' PGA Tour Champions debut would lead to increased security & other major revamps, says a senior official

Tiger Woods’ entry into the PGA Tour Champions would bring one of the biggest shifts in the senior circuit. PGA Tour Champions president Miller Brady said the tour is already preparing for the attention Woods would bring.Speaking on the Golf Channel, Brady said Woods’ participation would require major adjustments to handle the surge in demand. (0:14 onwards)“We've talked about it for a year now where we put together a plan. We know things would be different. Ticket sales would increase, we'd have to increase our security, increase the number of concession stands and the porta-potties that are out there. I mean the media center would be expanded, like everything would just be ramped up, not just a notch, probably a couple notches, but we're ready,” he said.He added that the tour has been preparing for Woods’ 50th birthday in December, which will make him eligible for the senior circuit. Since players are allowed to use golf carts on the PGA Tour Champions, the format could suit Woods well given his physical limitations."The answer is yes, we’re ready. We’re well prepared. We’ve done some whiteboarding over the past year in preparation for Tiger turning 50, and if and when he plays, our tournaments will be prepared."Tiger Woods last competed at the 2024 PNC Championship alongside his son Charlie. He is currently recovering from lumbar disc replacement surgery after a collapse in his L4 and L5 discs earlier this month. Sports injury specialist Marty Jaramillo explained that while the surgery allows greater flexibility, it requires a long recovery and strict avoidance of twisting or bending movements.Tiger Woods to skip the 2025 Hero World ChallengeTiger Woods will not be part of the 2025 Hero World Challenge, which takes place from December 4 to 7 at Albany in the Bahamas. His name was missing from the final 20-player field announced on Wednesday.Jordan Spieth, Billy Horschel, and Akshay Bhatia claimed the final three spots in the lineup, joining defending champion Scottie Scheffler, Hideki Matsuyama and several of the PGA Tour’s leading names.Tiger Woods has played in just one of the last three editions of the event. He skipped last year’s tournament as he continued to recover from back surgery and hasn’t played an official PGA Tour event since missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship. His most recent appearance came at the 2024 PNC Championship, where he and his son Charlie finished second after a playoff.
