In a ghastly road accident involving a car and a Goa transport corporation bus near Harlapur Cross in Gadag district, three men, including two police constables, were killed on the spot on Thursday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the car hit a road divider after the driver lost control over it and after hitting the road divider, it overturned and fell on the other side of the road and hit the bus.
Due to the impact of the collision and overturning, the car was almost crushed.
The car was proceeding towards Haveri from Gadag, while the Kadamba (Goa) Transport Corporation Bus was proceeding towards Gadag.
The deceased have been identified 34-year-old Arjun Nellur, constable serving at the Haveri District Control Room, his uncle 42-year-old Ravi Nellur and 38-year-old Iranna Uppar, a constable attached to the Koppal District Control Room.
Arjun Nellur was a native of Hungund village in Bankapur taluk of Haveri district, while Iranna was a native of Itagi village in Kukanur tlauk of Koppal district.
Gadag Rural Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to GIMS Hospital in Gadag.
