Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In three separate incidents on Thursday evening, three persons were mauled to death, reportedly by the same tiger, in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, triggering panic in several villages along the Telangana–Maharashtra border.
In Lavari village of Chimur taluk, Mesram Vidya (42) was killed when a tiger attacked her while she was returning from her farm. The animal dragged her body to the banks of a stream after the attack. Her husband and other locals tried to rescue her but failed.
In another incident, Sunil Rauth (32), a shepherd, was mauled to death at Lakpur village in Brahmapuri taluk. The same evening, Baban Mankar (10) was killed by a tiger while playing in front of his house at Gadbhori, a forest-fringe village in Sindhevahi taluk.
The three killings, believed to have been carried out by a single tiger, have created widespread fear among residents of Sirpur (T) and Wankidi mandals in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district, which share the border with Maharashtra. Villagers have urged officials to act swiftly to prevent further human loss and stop the animal from entering Telangana.
