Tottenham's fans took aim at one star during their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. Thomas Frank's side had hoped to get back to winning ways following their 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup midweek. However, that wasn't to be as they were outplayed by the Blues. Spurs' game plan was undone just seven minutes into the game when Lucas Bergvall picked up an injury and was replaced by Xavi Simons, with Joao Pedro giving Chelsea the lead late in the first half. Unfortunately for Simons, he was dealt the ultimate humiliation of then being taken off again on 73 minutes, just 66 minutes after coming onto the pitch. Xavi Simons Looked 'Lost' vs Chelsea Simons has endured a tough time since joining Tottenham in the summer, and his performance against Chelsea was just the latest disappointing display. The midfielder contributed no goals, no assists, no chances created, no accurate crosses and just one successful dribble. Reflecting on his performance at half-time on Sky Sports, Jamie Redknapp said: "They’ve got no pace running in behind. Xavi Simons looks lost out there. “He’s finding it very difficult to get into the game. I think that’ll be an area where they’ve got to cause Chelsea problems. Paceless. They’ve only really got Kudus who’s going to do something.” Daniel Sturridge added that the Dutchman looked low on confidence: "His confidence looked like it was shot when he entered the pitch. He wasn’t prepared or ready to start from the beginning. He’s effectively started the game. “He’s got to get himself into positions where he can impact the game.” Xavi Simons 'All Hype, No Substance' Simons' performance left Tottenham fans really quite frustrated on social media after his disappointing showing against Spurs' London rivals. One fan wrote: "Xavi Simons is absolutely c*** honestly patience is running stupidly thin with him." "Xavi Simons looks like a U16 player out there," wrote another, while a third claimed: "Paying £52M for Xavi Simons is turning into a massive disappointment. He’s shown little impact, no consistency, and nowhere near the quality expected for that price tag. All hype, no real substance so far." Meanwhile, another fan wrote: "Has Xavi Simons played a single pass into the Final 3rd since he joined? It’s genuinely unacceptable. He’s been given the wages to be the 2nd highest earner, is tasked with fulfilling the creative duties of Kulusevski and Maddison, but hasn’t done anything."
