This weekend: Staten Island brewery to host 10-hour celebration with fresh oysters, local music
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Flagship Brewing Co. hosts its 11th annual Oysterfest on Sept. 20 at 40 Minthorne St., bringing back a favorite end-of-summer celebration in Tompkinsville.
The event runs from 2 p.m. to midnight and features fresh Cotuit oysters shucked on site, with prices set at $26 per dozen and $15 per half-dozen. Jumbo shrimp cocktail will be available for $18.
Live music kicks off at 2 p.m. with Muddy Dog, followed by Group 26 at 3 p.m., The Goddamn Wrecks at 4 p.m., Javon G Quartet at 5 p.m. and Wonderband at 6 p.m.
Local vendors will showcase their products throughout the day, including Lenore Solmo’s oyster creations and jewelry, Jacked Up Sauce and Green Stinger Honey. Food will be provided by Raval Steakhouse and Mariachi Restaurant, also of Minthorne Street.
Flagship beer, craft cocktails and wine will be available alongside the seafood offerings and vendor selections.
The brewery describes the annual celebration as Staten Island’s favorite way to mark the end of summer, featuring fresh seafood, local artisans and continuous live entertainment.
Staten Island’s oyster legacy runs deep—especially in Rossville’s Sandy Ground, the oldest continuously inhabited free Black settlement in the U.S. In the 1800s, skilled oystermen from Maryland built thriving businesses off Prince’s Bay, making oysters a vital part of the borough’s maritime and cultural history.
