Raveena Tandon ruled the 90s era with her acting chops and killer dance moves. Over the years, she starred in numerous blockbuster films and became one of Bollywood’s most beloved actresses. Her journey in the film industry spans more than three decades. Born to the renowned film director Ravi Tandon, Raveena began her career as a model before venturing into acting. Her early modelling days laid the foundation for her film career. In 1991, Raveena got her first big break in a film alongside Salman Khan. It was Patthar Ke Phool. Interestingly, the two used to have constant fights on the sets of the film. It was directed by Anant Balani and its script was written by Salman’s father, Salim Khan. In the film, Salman played a police officer whereas Raveena essayed a gangster’s daughter. The actress’s performance in her first film earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut, establishing her as a promising talent in Bollywood. During the shoot, Raveena and Salman would argue over everything and often behaved like kids in a classroom. The actress told Pinkvilla, “We were like two kids in a class who just wanted to fight over everything.” According to the actress, she was just 16 and a half when she began acting in films, while Salman was around 23 at the time. “We were both brats,” she added. She shared that she and Salman were almost brought up in the same household environment since her father and Salim Khan worked closely together. Such was the intensity of the conflicts that Salman even said that he would not work with Raveena. “We fought throughout the film and Salman said, ‘I’m not going to work with her.” Despite the fights, fate had other plans as Raveena and Salman eventually worked together in several films, and the chemistry won hearts. Raveena and Salman later worked in Andaz Apna Apna, which went on to gain cult status over the years.
