STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— PS 20 Principal Amanda Mezzatesta is ensuring all students stay warm this winter season by providing each child with essential cold-weather gear. As temperatures drop, the school is distributing new winter jackets, hats, and gloves to all 252 students in the building. “P.S. 20 is more than just a school, we are a family, and family takes care of one another,” Mezzatesta said. “Each year, I provide every single student in our building with a brand-new winter jacket. It’s a simple act, but one that reflects the heart of our community, ensuring that our children are safe, warm, and ready to learn.” The initiative reflects Mezzatesta’s commitment to both her students’ educational and personal well-being. The winter gear distribution has become a tradition at the school, where administrators aim to keep “hearts just as warm as our education” during the colder months.
