In a world where friendships are typically founded on emotions and trust, an American model has redefined this notion with their financial stipulations.
Lana Madison, a 29-year-old transgender model, insists on only befriending individuals who earn a six-figure salary or more, akin to their own substantial income.
Lana, who boasts an annual income of $1.6 million (approximately Rs 13 crore), believes that friends with lesser financial means cannot keep up with their luxurious lifestyle.
Lana’s approach to friendships is starkly different from the traditional view that these relationships transcend appearance, colour, wealth, or age. Their preference for wealthy friends has led them to sever ties with many old acquaintances from their hometown in Texas.
They claim that friends became envious and accused them of being pretentious once they started earning significant money. Lana asserts that they no longer want to associate with anyone who objects to their expenses, flights, or opulent way of life.
“If you’re afraid to pay bills or can’t afford first-class flights, don’t even try to be my friend,” they firmly state.
With over 31,000 Instagram followers, Lana proudly identifies as a “professional bimbo,” enjoying a lifestyle where no one questions their extravagant choices, such as ordering champagne or staying in five-star hotels.
To maintain success and peace of mind, Lana has established strict “friendship rules.” They believe that “poor friends bring drama, rich friends bring opportunity,” a philosophy that now sees them surrounded by people who inspire their progress.
Furthermore, they disclosed spending $50,000 (about Rs 41 lakh) on cosmetic surgery, a decision that drew criticism from old friends who accused them of being obsessed with money and luxury.
However, Lana sees it as reaping the rewards of hard work, stating, “I’d rather have three rich friends than 30 jealous poor friends.”
