This Man Swore Off Jeans, Only Wears His Great-Grandfather's 200-Year-Old Outfits!

In a world driven by fast-changing trends and social media influence, a UK man has captured global attention for his steadfast devotion to vintage fashion. Jack Pinsent, a resident of London, dresses exclusively in clothing styles from the 18th and 19th centuries, often wearing garments that once belonged to his great-grandfather. Pinsent’s wardrobe consists of Victorian-era coats, waistcoats, tailored trousers, silk ties and leather boots, some of which are more than 100 to 200 years old. He completely rejects jeans, T-shirts and other modern casual wear, which he calls “uncomfortable” and “devoid of personal expression”. A short documentary film on his life and style recently went viral across YouTube, Instagram and TikTok. In the film, Pinsent explained that despite the curious stares and questions from strangers, his clothing represents his identity. “People look at me and sometimes laugh, but this is who I am,” he said in the video, which garnered millions of views across platforms. Popular on Instagram under the name Pinsent Tailoring, the Londoner said that his daily life revolved around preserving and wearing period clothing. Some items from his great-grandfather’s collection are carefully restored, while others are re-tailored to fit modern needs without losing their historical essence. Describing jeans as “useless and boring” and T-shirts as “sloppy”, he said traditional garments offer elegance, craftsmanship and individuality. Despite the occasional mockery or confusion, such as a supermarket shopper once asking if he was an actor or part of a theatre group, Pinsent said he remains unfazed. “I told them, ‘No, this is my daily life’,” he recounted with a smile. For him, the attention strengthens rather than diminishes his confidence.
