This Is the Best Fast Food Burger, According to Bobby Flay

Key Points Bobby Flay names In N’ Out as his favorite fast food burger on 'Hot Ones.' He insists American cheese, fully melted, is essential for the perfect cheeseburger experience. Flay struggled with the 'Hot Ones' spicy sauces, relying on milk to handle the heat. Bobby Flay, 60, is the host of several cooking competitions on Food Network, an accomplished chef who’s won a James Beard Award and was inducted into the Culinary Hall of Fame, and the co-founder of Bobby’s Burgers, so the man knows a thing or two when it comes to burgers. That’s why, when he revealed which fast food chain he thinks has the best burgers on Hot Ones, it was a big deal. The question made Flay stop and think hard. “Let’s see,” said the Triple Threat host. “I guess I’m going to have to go with In N’ Out.” “Set it in stone, gospel according to Bobby Flay!” said a surprised Evans. The question came right after Flay had tasted the spiciest sauce of the whole interview: The Last Dab Xperience. The super-spicy sauce had Flay reaching for the whole milk. “I don’t think water is a good idea. To me, the dairy is the key,” he said of his beverage choice. Flay also revealed which cheese is the “right” cheese for a cheeseburger, and his top tip for making sure it tastes absolutely perfect. “American?” asked Evans. “All the way,” Flay confirmed. “And every chef will tell you the same thing. American cheese is just the right cheese.” He also shared a tidbit that will make your own homemade cheeseburger taste restaurant-worthy. “At Bobby’s Burger Palace, there was always a sign that said ‘Bobby Says: melt the cheese completely,'” he revealed. “A lot of times, you go to a restaurant and they don’t melt the cheese completely. It doesn’t taste the same! There’s something about that melted cheese just dripping off the burger onto your bun, etc. that just makes it taste that much better!” Related: Are Bobby Flay and Brooke Williamson Engaged? New Ring Photo Shocks Fans The Hot Ones interview seems right up Flay’s alley, considering he’s known for his use of chilis on his hit show Beat Bobby Flay, which often features his girlfriend, Brooke Williamson, as a guest. “I’m definitely nervous,” he said before they began tasting the wings covered in sauces of varying spice levels. “Some people might think, ‘Oh, this is going to be easy for him, chili peppers is his game, he cooks for a living, etc.’ But, this is going to be tough. I know it is.” Flay admitted the very first buffalo sauce was “hotter than [he] thought it was going to be,” and by the fifth wing, he was already forced to take a sip of milk.
