MIDLAND, MI — MyMichigan Health has announced a new financial benefit aimed at improving employee flexibility and reducing financial stress: the launch of an Earned Wage Access program. The new program, available now, allows employees to access a portion of their earned pay before the traditional payday through Rain, a secure third-party vendor. The benefit is designed to help staff manage everyday expenses or unexpected costs without waiting for the bi-weekly pay cycle. “We know that at any given time, changes can occur that could have a very real impact on our day-to-day lives,” said Julie Ward, senior vice president and chief human resources officer at MyMichigan Health, in a statement. “The addition of Earned Wage Access to our suite of benefits reinforces our dedication to supporting our employees when they need us most. “This new offering is just part of our commitment to enhancing the workplace by providing comprehensive benefits that support our employees’ well-being and financial health.” The Earned Wage Access program offers financial flexibility, improved budgeting, and fewer high-interest loans or banking fees. It also encourages employees to take on additional shifts and supports overall job satisfaction and retention. Employees can use the Rain app or website to view earnings, track transactions, and transfer funds. The service is available at no cost for standard transfers, with a small fee for same-day fund access. “The process for our employees will be simple,” Ward said. “The product requires no changes to payroll or timekeeping, and employees can easily opt in. We believe this will be well received by our employees and we’re pleased to offer it to them.” Ward also said the decision to introduce Earned Wage Access was a short- and long-term investment in employee support. “MyMichigan Health cares greatly about the wellbeing of our employees, and we often hear of the financial pressures they face,” she said. “Rain can help ease some of those stressors and help with everyday living. We know that if our employees feel less stressed, they are better able to provide the excellent patient care that our organization is known for.” Ward added that on-demand pay can also make MyMichigan more competitive in hiring and retention efforts: “Candidates may be more likely to accept a position with our organization if we have an on-demand pay benefit. In addition, our employees may be more motivated to pick up an extra shift if they can get paid quickly.” Those interested in joining the MyMichigan team can learn more at www.mymichigan.org/careers.
