This Company Is Now Worth $5 Trillion. Only Three Countries Have A Higher GDP

American semiconductor chip maker Nvidia has set a new record, with its market capitalisation surpassing $5 trillion (approximately Rs 453 lakh crore) for the first time. Last week Tuesday, during trading, Nvidia’s market cap reached this milestone, just three months after crossing the $4 trillion mark. This makes Nvidia’s market cap higher than India’s GDP, which stands at $4.19 trillion. Remarkably, only three countries in the world have a GDP greater than $5 trillion, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF): the United States at $30.61 trillion, China at $19.4 trillion, and Germany at $5.01 trillion. Following Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple are the most valuable companies in the world, with market caps of $4.03 trillion and $4.02 trillion respectively. Founded in 1993 by Jensen Huang, Curtis Priem, and Chris Malachowsky, Nvidia is headquartered in Santa Clara, California. The company initially focused on making graphic chips for gaming but has since expanded into various sectors, including gaming, data centres and artificial intelligence, automotive technology, professional visualisation, networking, and cloud computing. Over 50% of Nvidia’s revenue is now generated from its data centre and AI business, with gaming contributing about 30% and the remainder coming from professional visualisation, automotive, and networking. Nvidia’s chips are integral to today’s largest AI models and supercomputers, solidifying its position as a cornerstone of the AI era. According to Forbes, Nvidia’s co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang has a net worth of $183.3 billion.
