Thierry Henry has named the only three teams he believes can win the Champions League this season. The Frenchman lifted the famous big-eared trophy in 2009 with Barcelona and now features prominently on CBS Sports Golazo, covering Europe’s premier competition alongside Kate Scott, Jamie Carragher, and Micah Richards. Heading into the 2025/26 campaign, many thought it was a given that Liverpool - having spent more money on new signings than anyone else in the showpiece tournament over the summer - were as good as gold to be among the favourites for any competition they entered. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, under Xabi Alonso’s careful watch, were hardly expected to let another season slip by without winning a trophy. But Henry, after only three games, believes he’s seen enough to count both sides out of the reckoning to extend their Champions League stranglehold, as per the Metro. He also snubbed Manchester City, despite the red-hot form of Erling Haaland, who has found the back of the net at will, scoring 15 goals in 11 matches and counting so far. Henry Names Three Teams That Can Win 2025/26 Champions League Arsenal Death, taxes, and Arsenal scoring from a set-piece - while the Gunners have long relied on deadball situations, their form so far this season completely shatters the notion from rival supporters that this is unsustainable. Their 2025/26 campaign to date reads like this: 12 games, 10 wins, one draw, one loss, 25 goals scored, and just one goal conceded from open play. Mikel Arteta’s side reached the semi-finals of this competition last season before losing to eventual winners PSG, but Henry believes they can go one step further this time around. Their strength in depth, combined with the fact that they now seem to have the right mentality and have been through thick and thin together as a team for several years, certainly puts them in good stead. Ask Diego Simeone about the Gunners, and he'll tell you just how good they are following Atletico Madrid's 4-0 defeat. Paris Saint-Germain Winning one Champions League can often set off a domino effect, where the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle start to fall into place and lay the foundations of a dynasty. Paris Saint-Germain will be hoping that’s the case after last season’s record-breaking 5-0 win over Inter Milan saw them finally lift Old Big Ears for the first time in Les Parisiens’ history. They’ve largely kept the same squad, boasting the likes of Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Under Luis Enrique, you can never write them off, especially as they have hit the ground running in the league phase - demolishing Bayer Leverkusen 7-2 on the road, edging past Barcelona 2-1, and cruising to a 4-0 win over Atalanta. Bayern Munich As sure as night follows day, there was always going to come a time when Bayern Munich would find their way back into contention for sustained success on the continent. It feels like a long time coming, but now, with an attack spearheaded by Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz, it may finally be time for Die Roten to move beyond domestic dominance and make their mark on Europe. With 11 wins from 11 games across all competitions, the serial German champions must start thinking about reclaiming their place at the very top of world football. Having scored 40 goals in that period - an average of 3.6 per game - they could well outscore any opponent as they strive to lift their first Champions League since 2020.
