Two familiar names from Indian cricket former pacer Rudra Pratap Singh and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha are set to step into a new role this time off the field. According to reports the duo is in line to join the senior national selection panel replacing S Sharath and Subroto Banerjee in the Ajit Agarkar-led committee.
RP Singhrsquos Journey from World Cup Hero to Selector
A key member of Indiarsquos historic 2007 T20 World Cup-winning squad RP Singh also played a pivotal role in Gujaratrsquos 2016-17 Ranji Trophy triumph. With 124 international wickets across 14 Tests 58 ODIs and 10 T20Is Singh brings a blend of international pedigree and domestic know-how to the table.
Ojharsquos Red-Ball Legacy
Pragyan Ojha made his mark as a red-ball specialist with 113 of his 144 international wickets coming in Tests. His career peaked with a 10-wicket haul in Sachin Tendulkarrsquos farewell match. Domestically he represented Hyderabad and later Bengal and Bihar and is expected to represent the South Zone in the new panel.

CACrsquos Call and BCCIrsquos Approval
The Cricket Advisory Committee CAC comprising Ashok Malhotra Jatin Paranjpe and Sulakshna Naik has asked both Singh and Ojha to apply. Interviews will be conducted before the names are cleared by the BCCI with the new selectors likely to take charge next month.
Other Contenders in the Fray
Alongside Singh and Ojha former pacers Praveen Kumar Ashish Winston Zaidi and Shakti Singh have also applied. The BCCI requires candidates to have solid playing experience a minimum retirement period and limited previous committee tenure to ensure rotation.
Fresh Perspective for Indian Cricket
If appointed Singh and Ojharsquos combined international and domestic insight could strengthen Indiarsquos senior selection panel at a crucial time.
