YouTube's recent UI overhaul has certainly caused a stir. Some users prefer the cleaner, liquid glass-like UI, others would have preferred the streaming giant retaining its original look with more of the classic and familiar elements. Amid the back and forth, some smaller changes that initially went under the radar are now starting to show up, and some of them are proving to be changes that both sides can enjoy. The streaming platform now has custom like button animations for different types of videos, and software designer and X user @avstorm seems to have collected and documented every single one of them (via Android Authority). If you'd like to find 'em all by yourself, go ahead and try liking YouTube videos from different genres. If you don't want to go liking random videos and are fine with spoilers, here's a list of all the video categories that currently trigger a unique like-button animation. Motorvehicle Learning Music Film Travel Basketball Football Cricket Soccer Baseball Tennis Cooking Cat Dog Comedy Horror Love Romance Thriller TV The custom animations, as expected, match the video genre's theme. Traveling videos, for example, highlight a like button with a plane. Liking cooking videos, on the other hand, highlights a fork and spoon. Similarly, liking horror videos shows a spooked-out face, while dog videos highlight a paw. Check out all the new animations in the embedded tweets below. It's worth noting that the new animations are limited to full-length YouTube videos. They haven't made their way to YouTube Shorts. This isn't a huge change by any means, and doesn't necessarily make or break YouTube. It's simply a subtle visual update that adds a layer of fun and personality to the platform, something that it desperately needed after focusing on function over form with its recent updates. The new animation should be available to you if YouTube's new UI has made its way to you.
