These Effective Blue-Light Glasses Reduced My Headaches

These Effective Blue-Light Glasses Reduced My Headaches

If you’re anything like me, you’re on screens approximately 25 hours a day, eight days a week, for work and for fun. But no matter how updated my eyeglass prescription is, it never seems enough to stave off the minor headaches that I believe come from too much screen time during long work-from-home days. That realization led me down an entirely different eyewear path: subscription blue light glasses. And with the circular light blue Gunnar glasses I found quickly became my most beloved accessory.
Something about the chic blue color and the double bridged nose, paired with the yellowish lenses, just gives “nerd but in a hot way,” if you ask me. These frames fit my face perfectly and add a pleasant, light sepia tone to the world. And, while you can buy them as-is on Amazon, you can also add your own prescription to the glasses via the Gunnar website.

Popular eyewear companies like Zenni and Warby Parker have been selling blue light blocking lenses for quite a while now, with claims that the filtering out of blue light leads to improved sleep quality and a lessening of screen-overuse headaches. While the science community is still not unanimous about this technology being truly helpful, with not enough research behind the effectiveness, I can personally attest that I don’t get headaches whenever I wear my blue light glasses.
In fact, these glasses are so effective that I can tell I’ve upgraded all of my other lenses with blue light filters. If you want to follow suit but don’t love the look of my Gunnar pair, I’ve included a few other options ahead that might suit you.
