These 6 Films With Same Title Flopped! Even Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor Couldn't Save Them

It’s not uncommon in Bollywood for multiple films to share the same or similar titles. However, there’s one particular title that seems to have carried an unfortunate fate with it. Six different films were made under this name, and despite featuring legendary actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, and Anil Kapoor, none of them managed to make a mark at the box office.
We’re talking about films titled Kasam, Tumhari Kasam, and Hindustan Ki Kasam. Two films bore the title Kasam, two were released as Hindustan Ki Kasam, and one as Tumhari Kasam. Out of these six, only one enjoyed success upon re-release, though it was a flop during its original run.
Hindustan Ki Kasam (1973): Directed by Chetan Anand, brother of Dev Anand, this film was based on the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Despite a cast including Raj Kumar, Vijay Anand, and Priya Rajvansh, and his prior success with the war film Haqeeqat (1964), this film failed to impress audiences.
Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999): This action film starred Amitabh Bachchan and Ajay Devgn and was directed by Ajay Devgn’s father, Veeru Devgan. Despite a strong cast that also included Manisha Koirala and Sushmita Sen, the film only managed average business and was not considered a success.
Tumhari Kasam (1978): Starring Jeetendra and Moushumi Chatterjee, and featuring music by Rajesh Roshan, this drama directed by Ravi Chopra also failed to connect with audiences and flopped at the box office.
Kasam (1988): Anil Kapoor featured in this film directed by Umesh Mehra, opposite Poonam Dhillon, with music by Bappi Lahiri. Despite the big names, the film was a disaster, according to IMDb.
Kasam (2001): This multi-starrer featuring Sunny Deol, Naseeruddin Shah, Chunky Panday, Sonu Walia, and Neelam also failed commercially and was quickly forgotten.
Sanam Teri Kasam (2013): Starring Harshvardhan Rane, this romantic film had a budget of Rs 18 crore but only managed to earn Rs 9 crore at the time of release. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the film was re-released in 2025 and became a sleeper hit, collecting over Rs 53 crore, despite its original flop status.
