The Witcher's fourth season will see a dramatic change as Liam Hemsworth, famed for his role in The Hunger Games, takes over as Geralt of Rivia. The fantasy saga, penned by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski, has already inspired a hugely successful video game trilogy and three seasons on Netflix. But after three outings in the lead role, Henry Cavill made the decision to step away from the show, paving the way for Hemsworth to assume the iconic part. Viewers are preparing for more thrilling adventures across the Continent as Geralt, alongside Yennefer of Vengerberg (portrayed by Anya Chalotra) and Princess Ciri (Freya Allan), makes his comeback this Thursday (30th October). Meanwhile, here's what we've discovered about Hemsworth's life beyond the camera, reports the Mirror . Liam Hemsworth hails from Australia and spent his childhood in Melbourne, where he was raised by mother Leonie van Os, an author, and father Craig Thompson, who worked as a social-services counsellor. During his secondary school years, the family moved to Phillip Island, located to the southeast of Melbourne. He's widely recognised as the youngest sibling of two accomplished actors: Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor in the Marvel franchise, and Luke Hemsworth from Westworld. The three brothers maintain a tight-knit relationship, though not without some competitive spirit, and Liam has described Chris as his "hero" in a conversation with GQ. "He's honestly my last call," he revealed during the 2019 interview. "When I find myself in a position where I'm 50-50 about a script, then I call Chris. And his opinion I trust more than anyone in my team." The Hemsworth brothers have been dealt a devastating blow after their father Craig received an early-stage Alzheimer's diagnosis. The diagnosis means Liam and his siblings face a significantly heightened risk of developing the condition in the future. Whilst The Witcher star has kept quiet about the family's health struggle, Chris has tackled it directly through a new documentary, Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, which sees the father and son duo journeying across Australia's Northern Territory to relive cherished moments. "The result was a more profound, more moving, and more surprising journey than I ever anticipated," Chris said in a statement. Liam's highest-profile romance was his tumultuous relationship with pop sensation Miley Cyrus following their appearance together in The Last Song. The pair kicked off their romance in 2009, allegedly parting ways and reuniting multiple times before revealing their engagement in 2012. Following a period of cohabitation in Los Angeles, they announced their separation in September 2013. Yet three years down the line, speculation mounted that they'd reignited their romance after being spotted together at Liam's Malibu residence. Miley was also photographed wearing her engagement ring and, during an October 2016 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, verified the engagement was once again happening. The couple exchanged vows on 23rd December 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee, but their marital bliss was short-lived, lasting only seven months. Liam initiated the divorce proceedings in August 2019 and by 28th January 2020, their separation was legally finalised. Presently, Liam is romantically involved with Australian model Gabriella Brooks, with rumours of their relationship surfacing as early as 2019. Their relationship status was confirmed via an Instagram post in 2020, after they spent the Covid-19 lockdown together. In September, the duo delighted fans by announcing their engagement through a heartwarming social media post. The Witcher season 4 premieres Thursday, 30th October on Netflix.
