The next location for The White Lotus has finally been confirmed after rumours it was returning to Europe . The HBO show debuted with a season in Hawaii, before heading to Sicily for the second and Thailand for this year’s run. This year’s season caused major controversy with a sex scene between two brothers , among other shocking moments . Now, HBO boss Casey Bloys has confirmed the rumours and revealed that The White Lotus season four will be based in France. He told Deadline at the Emmys: “France for sure but details and location TBD.” The show’s creator Mike White was absent from the awards ceremony on Sunday, with rumours swirling that he was out in France writing the new season. Casey added: “I believe that is the case.” Rumours that The White Lotus was heading to France first emerged just weeks ago, with fans speculating where exactly it will be filmed. The show partners with the luxury Four Seasons hotels chain for filming, and there are a number in France. There is the Grand Hôtel du Cap Ferrat on the French Riviera, as well as an alpine retreat at Megève and then the Hôtel George V in the middle of Paris. It’s thought that the Cap Ferrat could be the front runner, with its connection to the glamorous Cannes and its location by the sea. However it’s not yet set in stone, and the show often films in multiple resorts. One thing for sure, however, is that the opening credits could be set to have a very different feel. Music composer Cristóbal Tapia de Veer, who created the theme tune for the first three seasons, confirmed to The New York Times earlier this year that he would be leaving the show. He confessed he didn’t tell creator Mike he was leaving, after the two had creative differences behind the scenes. Fans were left devastated by his exit, after he brought in the show’s iconic “ooh-loo-loo” sound to the opening credits. “This show would not be what it is without you, and whoever comes next has some big shoes to fill,” said one. Another said the news “broke their heart”, adding: “Your music IS the White Lotus!” Want all the biggest Showbiz and TV news straight to your inbox? Sign up for our free Daily Star Showbiz newsletter.
