The Wheel viewers were 'crying' as a lollipop lady won a huge sum of money, with fans saying the moment was 'so real'. Michael McIntylre’s BBC series returned for its sixth season on Saturday night (October 25) to the delight of its fanbase. Each episode sees seven celebrities strapped in chairs on a giant wheel, with each one having an area of knowledge that can help contestants. While the player is fully entitled to answer each multiple-choice question by themselves, they can choose to listen to the celebrity’s opinion. The first episode of the new season featured former footballer Jill Scott, the Celebrity Traitors’ Joe Marler, Strictly ’s Layton William, actress Susan Wokoma, comedian Katherine Ryan and Inside Number 9s’ Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith In what proved to be a memorable return for the series, lollipop lady Sally from Gateshead was one of two contestants to take part in the episode. Sally, who recently got the all-clear for lung cancer, said she would use the money to go on an adventure in a new camper van with her husband and help her friends who were there for her during her health battle. “The Wheel does this to you. It makes you fall in love with our contestants,” Michael said. Towards the end of the episode, former rugby player Joe helped Sally answer a question about the Sugababes’ original line-up, which helped her proceed to the final question. With £110,000 on the line in the finally question, Sally said she wanted Joe’s help, who joked that he 'felt sick' and 'didn't want to do it'. Answering a question about taekwondo correctly, Sally proceeded to run around the show’s set before erupting into tears. Looking ahead to the future, Sally said that she won’t be ‘hanging up her lollipop’ in spite of her win as she ‘loves it too much’.
