The Summer I Turned Pretty enthusiasts have been left feeling ‘anxious’ following showrunner Jenny Han’s hints about how the popular drama concludes. Han penned the cherished trilogy which serves as inspiration for the Prime Video series and has played a crucial role in bringing it to screens. Audiences have watched the intense love triangle involving Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) since 2022. The programme’s final episode is set to drop on Wednesday (September 17) and supporters have been theorising about which character the protagonist chooses. Whilst Conrad and Belly tie the knot in the source material, Han has previously clarified that the series finale doesn’t mirror the books exactly, reports the Mirror . The writer has now offered glimpses into the upcoming episode 11, and enthusiasts might find her comments disheartening. During a chat with LA Times, the 45-year-old hinted that Conrad and Belly might not reconcile in Paris as audiences anticipate. “He [Conrad] and Belly aren’t in the same place,” she revealed, before continuing: “She’s [Belly] saying that she’s ready for something new this summer, and he’s something old coming back into her life.” The third season has already shown Belly getting ready to wed Jeremiah, before her partner decides to abandon the ceremony. She has now begun a different chapter in Paris. The most recent episode concluded with Belly announcing her readiness for fresh experiences, whilst Conrad was catching a plane to France. His choice followed the pair reconnecting via correspondence, though Conrad remains oblivious to Belly’s fresh romance with Parisian Benito. So it remains uncertain how their reunion will unfold. Nevertheless, as Han hints, it might not be the romantic encounter that supporters anticipate. After Han’s most recent clue, ‘Team Conrad’ watchers have flocked to Reddit to voice their concerns. One posted: “This literally scares. Like I know she is still trying to keep us on our toes but it’s stressing me out..” Another added: “My anxiety is through the roof.” Whilst another commented: “They cannot break Conrad’s heart again, surely. I think she’s messing with us.” Meanwhile, other supporters remain convinced ‘Bonrad’ will discover their path back to one another.
