The Summer I Turned Pretty fans have been left ‘sobbing’ following the ‘perfect’ series finale of the Amazon Prime Video romcom.
The teen drama about two brothers, Conrad and Jeremiah, who fight for the love of their childhood best friend Belly has taken social media by storm in recent weeks.
Featuring music by Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo, ‘Team Conrad’ and ‘Team Jeremiah’ campaigns have been launched on X by devout fans of the 2009 book series by Jenny Han.
And following the series finale of the Amazon Prime series last night, fans finally got to see who Belly would choose.
Writing on X, @newromantics02 said the series finale was ‘like the most romantic rom-com ever created intertwined with an episode of The Bear’.
@erinjayokay also wrote: ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty had such a beautiful ending.’

@ziggystarvibez commented: ‘The summer i turned pretty finale ending with scott street playing over the montage of cousins… i can’t do this.’
@pasabist joked: ‘Just finished the finale of tsitp. 3 years of yearning. What do I do now????????? Gonna rewatch from the top just about 10 more times and maybe I’ll be ok.’
What did the Metro think?
Our reporter Asyia Iftikhar shared her thoughts here…
When Amazon Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty came out in 2022, I rolled my eyes and wrote it off.
The cheesy teen drama about two brothers (Conrad and Jeremiah) fighting for the love of their childhood best friend, Belly (yes, that’s really her name), was so far out of the realm of my usual taste that I already knew I would hate it.
There would be the cringey dialogue, the on-the-nose needle drops from Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo (who I love when they’re not the backing track to a completely bonkers love triangle), and a plot so infuriating I simply wouldn’t be able to take it seriously.
Amazon Prime’s number one show sounded awful – now it’s taken over my life
@rayainalif also added: ‘Right person, right actors, right ship, right endgame #TheSummerITurnedPretty.’
However, not all fans seemed to be equally pleased with the conclusion of the series.
Some, in fac,t highlighted that the episode should have been longer, and it missed out key details from the books.

@YOUFlRST argued: ‘The summer i turned pretty finale should’ve been two hours long but i got the ending i wanted either way…’
@emmanueloser said: ‘The finale for the summer i turned pretty was amazing BUT ummm no wedding?? where’s the photo benito took? What about Susannahs letter? Or a flashback of her? Why didn’t we get one last scene with Belly and Taylor or Belly with her parents or Taylor in California???’
Meanwhile, @dontblamerhi argued: ‘As someone who read the books, I think there should’ve been a little more at the end. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it, but no letter? No wedding?’
Currently, there are no plans for the series to continue past the season three finale.
Jenny Han confirmed this, by explaining that the series has run out of source material from the novels.
Following an open-ended final scene, however, and a post-credits scene fans are hoping there may be a film to come next.

The series finale finally saw Belly and Conrad finally get their happy ending.
The last episode saw the pair return from Paris to the beach house, where the open-ended final scene took place.
Unfortunately, Belly and Conrad’s wedding day was not shown, but we saw in some end credits scene the pair spend Christmas together in Paris.
After the final credits, a letter by author Jenny Han was shown as the closing page in the book.
All three seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video now.
