(CNN) – Florida officials have launched a criminal investigation into the popular gaming platform Roblox. The state is accusing the company of failing to protect children from inappropriate content and online predators. Investigators said some predators have used the platform’s virtual currency to manipulate minors into sharing explicit images. Roblox has denied the allegations, calling them a misunderstanding of how its platform works. The company said it bans image sharing, filters personal information and is rolling out age-estimation technology to better protect users.
