It’s my least favorite kind of story to write - another local closing announcement. And lately, it feels like there have been so many of them. Some you can see coming from a mile away, others hit you like a surprise wave. This one falls into that second category. It’s a total bummer because it’s such a prime spot in Southeast Minnesota, the kind of place that feels like summer itself. After seven incredible years, one of the most beloved lakefront spots in the region has decided it’s time to say goodbye. Related: A New Tattoo Shop Open in Small Southeastern Minnesota Town This week, the owners of a beloved lakeside restaurant shared an emotional post on Facebook announcing they’ll be closing after one final season. They explained that business has slowed and costs have gone up, and after a lot of reflection, they made the tough decision to close their doors. I'm talking about the Pondy Restaurant and Bar on Lake Zumbro! But they said they'll be making this last season count. The owners, Steve and Devra, plan to be at the restaurant every Friday and Saturday, celebrating with customers and soaking up one last summer together.
