The people expect and deserve improved access to land and services — NNN

Placido Hilukilwa THE Namibian people expect and deserve improved access to land, housing, sanitation, water, and electricity, said President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah. Speaking during the official opening ceremony of the Helao Nafidi Business Expo 2025 this morning, the President said that the government remains committed to ensuring that every Namibian can enjoy a decent standard of living, regardless of where they live. “However,” she said, “we need the private sector as much as the private sector needs the government.” She said that the Namibia Public Private Forum (NPPF) was launched on the 24th of October with the purpose of creating space for the government and the private sector to engage in a formal setting in order to appreciate each other’s responsibilities in the process of nation-building and economic advancement, to grow the economy, create jobs, and take the Namibian people out of poverty for balanced, shared prosperity. She noted that the outcome of the NPPF was encouraging, and she will, in the course of the coming week, appoint three task forces — for Economic Recovery, for Health, and for Housing — as agreed at the forum. She expressed the hope that next year the NPPF will be even better, in both organisation and outcomes. The 18th edition of the Helao Nafidi Business Expo takes place over three days only, having kicked off Friday under the theme, “Ignite the Future: Unearthing Youth Potential and Innovation at the Heart of Helao Nafidi Town.” The duration of the event was shortened this year to help cut down on costs.
