The One Show’s Alex Jones has said she’s ‘better safe than sorry’ after leaving fans ‘with questions’ as she provided a health update on social media. It’s been a busy period for Alex, 48, who celebrated 15 years as the face of the BBC talk show last month. A special episode held in honour of her saw Alex asked to be a guest for the evening as author and Pointless star Richard Osman joined Roman Kemp as a presenter. If that wasn’t a big enough surprise, Alex was stunned when her husband of over a decade, Charlie Thomson , was introduced as a guest without her knowing. After taking some time off from her One Show duties, Alex has been back in the hot seat beside Roman for the magazine show which features interviews with lots of famous faces. Taking to Instagram on Monday (September 29), Alex shared a video of her at a medical clinic having a procedure performed on her leg. Several hours after uploading the initial video, Alex returned to her story to provide some clarity after receiving messages from concerned fans. Alex revealed she had to have a freckle on her leg removed at a mole clinic to have it examined by professionals. She explained: “The last video has created more questions than answers. Basically, went to the mole clinic and they said ‘this little freckle on your leg needs to come off’. “I said ‘oh, can you do it now because I’m here now’ and they said ‘oh all right them’. [She then said] ‘the only thing is I’ve only got ten minutes’. “That’s why my shoes were still on in the video despite the fact I was on a hospital bed.” Alex added: “Then he put some anaesthetic in my leg, whipped it off and he’ll send it away. I just think it’s better safe than sorry. “If you’re there, you might as well just do it all at the same time. Unexpected start to a Monday, but glad it’s done really. Thankfully, Alex was okay after the procedure and was back on The One Show later in the evening, where she and Roman spoke to Slow Horses star Sir Gary Oldman and DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles .
