The season for culinary accolades and recognition is upon us once again. The nation's beloved takeaway staple, the kebab, boasts its very own awards celebration - and Wales' semi-finalists have now been revealed, with a number from North Wales in the running. Representing the top 20 establishments across Wales, these semi-finalists will be whittled down to a shortlist of finalists later this year, competing for the Welsh crown at the 14th British Kebab Awards on 24th February 2026. This year's champion, Grill and Bake, claimed the honour at the ceremony held earlier in 2025, having also secured the title in 2024. Another semi-finalist, Wales Kebab, previously triumphed in both 2023 and 2021, whilst Cardiff's Golden barbecue took home the trophy in 2022. Britain's kebab sector generates more than £3 billion each year and provides employment for upwards of 100,000 individuals. Throughout Wales, these establishments contribute significantly not only to local economies but to the cultural identity of communities across the nation, reports Wales Online . Ibrahim Dogus, founder of the British Kebab Awards, said: "Kebab restaurants are a vital part of Wales' food and business landscape. They bring people together, create jobs, and show how migrant communities drive economic growth. These awards celebrate that impact and the incredible stories behind every grill." The finalists to go forward to the February ceremony will likely be announced in the new year. And there are also several regional categories, including best newcomer restaurant in London/ outside London, best takeaway regional, and best kebab houses in Wales, Northern Ireland, Scotland, north and west London, and south and east London.
