In yesterday’s Gospel reading, from John 2: 13-22, Jesus drove away the traders who were defiling the Temple. It was demanded of Him to provide a sign to justify why He did that. In the world today, President Donald Trump of the USA issued a warning to the terrorists who were killing Christians in Nigeria. He clearly indicated that he was going to strike at them. And some people are demanding from him, what powers has he got to attack people who are killing Christians, in their own sovereign nation. Firstly, we are told that the terrorists who are Islamic extremists are killing Muslims as well, so it should not be any big deal, if they kill Christians? If someone invites Christians and Muslims to a banquet and serves pork to them, should the Muslims complain or not? Here we have a religion, which has extremists who would kill anyone, including Muslims, who defy what they perceive as the law. In Islam, there is what is called Jihad, which can be said to be a holy war, to convert souls. Those who refuse are killed. Now any Muslim who speaks against this or protects Christians earmarked to be killed can be killed by the extremists. So, if Muslims are also killed, why do we not have their spiritual leaders interpret the Qu’ran to them and order them to stop? The killing of Christians by these Islamic extremists have been going on and yet no one has heard any word from any Islamic leader, instructing the terrorists to stop. And if the Christians are been awoken by Donald Trump and are saying enough is enough, we have people challenging him. China is the only country which has come out officially to contest what Trump said and it should not be surprising. China is said to be neck-deep in corruption in Nigeria. This country we hear are sponsoring the terrorists with sophisticated arms, so that they protect them while they steal minerals out of Nigeria. Unfortunately, we also hear that some Nigerian politicians and leaders are shielding the Chinese, in exchange of a few dollars more. Oh, Black Africa! When will Black Africans learn to protect their countries and their own against foreigners? We condemn the West for colonialism, but we are warmly welcoming China, who is coming to take all our natural resources and, in the end, take over our countries in a new form of slavery. Look at the mess they have created in Ghana, with the destruction of our environment in search of gold. The Chinese also shoot and kill Ghanaians who stray into their illegal concessions. While the Nigerian leaders watch as the Chinese use helicopters to ship out gold in the night, here in Ghana, they use our harbours and to ship out gold unto their fishing vessels on high seas. This is what China is doing to Africa and in the case of Nigeria, it is paid with the blood of martyrs. A personality like P.L.O. Lumumba, who I used to respect a lot on his Pan-Africanism, rather sank low, when he chose not to condemn the killing of Christians but rather attempted given unrelated reasons why Trump wanted to attack terrorists in Nigeria. It is a great shame for him to condemn Trump, when during Nigeria’s Goodluck Jonathan’s era, members of the current ruling party, then in opposition, went to the USA to solicit help from Obama, to flush out terrorists. And if today, America is ready to do so, why should people, including Lumumba protest? All said, the recent mass killing of Christians by Muslims should send alarm bells. In February 2015, twenty-one construction workers made up of twenty Egyptian Coptic Christians and a Ghanaian called Matthew Ayariga were killed by ISIS in Libya, for refusing to denounce Christ. Soon this crawled into Nigeria and may likely spread across the globe. Is this the spread of Islam? If as things are going on right now, Christians decide to arm themselves and counter-attack are we not going to introduce another world war? It is about time something is done. Because such religious differences should not happen anywhere. For I ask, why is it that in The Gambia, with 94% Muslim population, Christians live freely and their rights are respected, but not so in Nigeria with 49% Muslim population? All said the Muslims have an agenda to dominate the world. That agenda also reads into the Middle East stand-off between Israel and the Arabs. Israel is a country on the heart of Christians with its many holy sites for pilgrimage, for Jesus Christ walked that land. The Arabs are determined not to make Christian pilgrimages to Israel, safe, with their constant attacks on Israel. Mecca, however, the holiest place of pilgrimage for Muslims, is in the peaceful Saudi Arabia. All of ECOWAS and AU must rise up against the killing of Christians in Nigeria for what is happening there can happen in any African country. Jesus Christ proclaimed that the gates of hell can never destroy His Church (Matthew 16:18) and in relation to what happened to Stephen in Acts 7 and the killing of early Christians, Tertullian wrote in around 197 ADthat “the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.” Christianity shall forever prevail and dominate the world.
